From a closed shipyard, this Wilfrid O. White & Sons Wind Velocity
Instrument appears in very good condition. This is the chromed brass display
instrument only. It remains in very good condition, retaining almost all of the
factory plating- There are numerous photos to show it's details and condition.
Measures 5 1/2" across the back. Marked 'Wilfrid O. White & Sons Inc....New
York-Boston-Baltimore...Wind Velocity' on the face. Thick glass is nicely
bevelled.
Since I don't have the wind impeller instrument, it is offered as-is, but
keep in mind that the shipyard had carefully stored and wrapped this unit.
These Wilfrid O White Instruments wind instruments were extremely expensive.
Wilfrid White & Sons were major makers and retailers of navigation instruments,
including sextants, taffrail logs etc. Believe that they may have also
manufactured the instruments for the similar Danforth Wind Speed Displays.
Great to keep on hand as a spare for an existing instrument, or possibly to set
up a handsome wind system. It is offered with a very low starting bid.
